What is financial trading?

Financial trading is the buying and selling of financial assets with the goal of making a profit. This can be done either through an exchange, such as the NY Stock Exchange, or over the counter between two parties. Traders will generally hope to buy low and sell high; whether or not they ever take ownership of the asset is not usually relevant, as it would be with investing. There are thousands of different instruments and markets to trade with. Many traders will tend to find a particular niche and stick with it, while others prefer to always be branching out and diversifying their portfolios.

Often when we think of careers in financial trading, the classic image of the Wall Street tycoon is what comes to mind. This is very much a real example of a trading career, but this is not the only area where these skills are used on a daily basis. Financial trading courses can land you a career in other areas as well. One such area is corporate finance, where corporate finance managers receive one of the highest salaries in the field. Investment banking is another area where financial trading experts can help corporations and institutions create strategies for growth.
